NEWS
SENIORS – MANAGER LAWRENCE CREEK
West Laindon v Essex Royals
A fairly even start to the game resulted in a few dubious decisions and a
goal down after 20 minutes and a second by 25 mins we were not playing at
our best but ended the first half 1-3 after D.Mimms got our goal pouncing
on a mistake by the defence to easily put the ball wide of the keeper
The second half continued much as the first half.....the opposition were given
a penalty. after their player dived over our defenders legs. and once again
it was hard to get back into the game
We finished off with a goal in the last few minutes when we won a free kick...(one
of the few decisions we got) the ball was hit into the area and R.Creek slid
in and forced the ball into the net...the final score was 2-6 to West Laindon......on
the whole it was a poor performance against a moderate side with a suspect
referee.
Northwick 2 v
Well done the team !!!!!!!!!!
At last a day when it all came together....trying a new formation for the
first time this season seemed to have paid off.
After a very exciting first half of near misses from both sides...including
a post and a goal line clearance we felt we were the better side and just
needed that goal to settle us down.
It came after about 10 minutes of the second half when a cross managed to
evade all in the area and A Heslop hit a fierce left foot shot with the keeper
well beaten. A second soon followed after some good passing moves were finally
working, with the players looking for and finding space...The ball was crossed
into the area and again failure to clear led to N Waite scoring soon after
he had come on as substitute.
The third followed when D.Sims had the ball in the middle of the oppositions
half and noticed the goal keeper off his line and lobbed the ball over his
head into the net.
Another injury and with more pressure from Northwick, led us to let in two
goals in as many minutes but we managed to hold on for a deserved 2-3 win.
5th December...............Armada
Sports 5 v 1
A terrible first half display in which we were 4-0 down
and not even in the game turned when the team decided to play in the second
half and pulled a goal back scored by a floating shot that went in the top
left hand corner by S.Hunt .
Unfortunately we could not build on this and were beaten 5-1 by a better team
on the day.
12th December.........Essex Royals 4 v 3 Herongate
A great start to the game saw the team playing with good passing and controlling
the game. We were soon in front when D.Honour scored our first goal when the
ball was crossed for him to head home passed the keeper. We soaked up the
many attacks with ease till we went two up with another goal from D.Honour
after we were awarded a penalty. A third completed the half when D.Sims placed
his shot from the right hand side of the area around the stranded keeper.
This was definitely a game of two halves....we conceded a goal soon after
the restart and Herongate continued to press until they were level at 3-3
with 10 minutes to go. We won a corner and D.Honour scored direct from the
corner flag when his low in-swinging kick crept in the near post.
UNDER 16’S – MANAGER JENNI WELLINGTON
We knew this was going to be a tough game and it was. Adam Dipple putting us in the lead in the second
half was fantastic. The lads played
superbly. They scored a goal to make
it 1 – 1 at full time. We carried on playing brilliant football but in this
instance it just wasn’t quite enough and during extra time they managed to
put 2 goals passed us.
Linford Wanderers
1 – 3
Having beaten Linford already this season the lads were full of confidence.
They dominated this game from the beginning and Paul Shields put is
in lead, but they retaliated with a great goal.
Another goal from Paul shields and one from Adam Dipple saw this game
out. It was a great game to watch.
Never having played this team before we didn’t know what we were up against.
They have had some good results so we knew we were up against it.
We played brilliant football with a goal scored by Adam Dipple.
They were a good side and just had the edge over us.
LTD 1 – 0
Again this team are new in our league and are top of the league. Not lost a game so far. We knew we were up against it yet again. The match kicked off and we went 1 goal down
in the first 5 minutes which woke us up..
I though this was going to open the floodgates. I decided to change formation and played a defensive
UNDER
15’S – MANAGER PAUL SALTER
GAME VOID
DUE TO CAMPUS WANDERERS TEAM FOLDING.
After playing
a friendly match against Park view Football Club earlier in the week and winning
5-1 the confidence and expectations were high for this match. The team started
well with some great passing around the field and off the ball running which
created numerous chances, however the final touch appeared to let us down
and the expected goal never came.
Our Goalkeeper:
Rob Cummings appeared to be having an off day and with a couple of mistakes
Cosmos had scored two goals in quick concession near to half time. Full credit
to the team for having the right attitude from the start of the second half
after showing fantastic determination in trying to get on the score sheet.
The second
half was totally dominated by the Royals team and I am still contemplating
what the guys have to do to enable a goal to be scored after some great runs
from the defence area by Sam Morrison, Dean Game and Aaron Pitts. Full credit
must be given to Ross Wyatt in the defence for the sheer effort he puts into
every game, I have never experienced a lad who could possibly give more than
100% until I watched this game. Well Done Ross.
The third
goal against us came from a well placed free kick into the top left corner,
no comment except to say it was a great goal.
I honestly
believe we were the better team on the day and deserve the win, however without
the little piece of luck you sometimes require and some odd decisions by the
referee the result went to Cosmos.
Man of
the Match trophy was given to Chris Henschel/Green for his work rate in the
midfield and excellent tackling skills. Well Done Chris!
Finally
would like to say well played to Adam Jenkins for stepping into the goalkeeper’s
role after Rob was injured and also to the subs of the game: Chris Mizen,
Jack Middleton, Paul Ellis and Neil Wyatt who are a vital part of the team
and make the difference when they come on. Well Done Guys!
Rossers Cup Barking Colts
18
Nothing
to say really, except that it was men against boys and Barking Colts scored
a lucky 18 goals!!!!
Well taken
goal by Adam Jenkins.
Man of
Match to Ross Wyatt for refusing to give up, Well Done Ross!!!
Medals
given to Adam Jenkins for the goal and Ian Kendrick for setting the goal up…Well
Done Guys!
Wilburn Wanderers 7
One of
the parents asked me if I have ever broken a mirror or had a gypsy curse placed
on me. I am starting to think I must had done both.
The first
3 goals were scored against us in a matter of minutes and with our regular
goalkeeping injured, Chris Green tried his best in this position. These goals
were conceded after some misunderstandings between our defenders which the
Wanderers players took full advantage of.
With one
of our main midfield players unable to play in his usual position due to playing
in goal, our midfield struggled and seemed a little lost. At half time the
guys were 4 nil down with everything to play for in the second half, however
the team had to take the chances given to them and with great shots by Jack
Hodgson, Luke Tapping, Ian Kendrick, Ross Wyatt Jack Middleton and Joe Ebsworth
just to name a few we were still unable to score. WHAT DO WE HAVE TO DO?
The rest
of the goals scored by Wanderers were as a result of the Royals guys going
forward and being out of position when the ball was lost. With a full fit
squad, I believe the victory would have been ours.
On a personal
opinion I feel this team squad is “spot on”.
The wins
have not started to come yet due to the players not having enough training/match
time together. As this changes and they “bold “as a team the floodgates of
wins will open, I am certain of that!
MAN OF
THE MATCH….Jack Hodgson for his work rate. Well Done Jack.

Dean Etchells,
Adam Matheson
This was a real
old fashioned cup tie with both teams attacking and non stop action from one
end of a very big pitch to the other. The boys were never out of the game
and it often looked like their efforts were going to be enough to send them
on to the next round. The game was cruelly ended in stoppage time by a breakaway
goal. It can only be summed up as a brilliant team performance from the boys.
Liam Lingwood,
Lenny Wallis, David Viñas
A very close match
saw the introduction of some of our squad players with Rob Smith playing a
good game and Shane Doyle putting in a good performance. In the end it was
some good teamwork that created the chances for the goals.
League Cup
Dean Etchells,
James Driver, Darren Newman, David Viñas (2)
The Quarterfinal
round of the cup saw a determined team from the start. There were some good
individual performances and every thing was well but for scoring a goal. The
end of the half saw a breakthrough, although it was still nerve racking watching
from the side. The second half saw the boys start of really well and soon
the score was up to 0 – 3. This seem to break trinity and the boys finished
off with some good football ease through to the next round.
Since the last news
letter the squad would like to wish Happy 14th Birthday’s to Shane
Doyle, Liam Lingwood (November) & James Orchard (December).
UNDER 12’S – MANAGER STEVE WILSON
The boys worked hard throughout this game but were beaten by a good side.
Consolation goal from Sam McGrath.
Man of the match - Danny Wilson, a determined effort, unlucky to see his 20
yard strike hit the bar early on.
Essex
Royals 2 - 13 Purfleet Lions 21st November 2004
A real hiding from the team who won last seasons premier league and are
currently top of the league. The boys
showed good spirit and never gave up, even upsetting them by scoring twice
in the second half (Martin McClenaghan and
Sam Brown). We are only the second team to put two past them so far.
Man of the match - Martin McClenaghan, ran his socks off all game, rewarded
with his goal.
After a great start and a fantastic goal from Martin McClenaghan we looked
to be in control of the game, but gave them
a scrappy equalizer before half-time. We then gifted Stanford a second goal
early in the second half and despite a good
performance we once again come away with nothing.
Man of the match - Kurtis Bonner, a very solid performance at left back.
We are giving away to many sloppy goals and despite good performances, it
is
costing us dearly.

Not sure
were to start with this match. We scored 2 goals quickly then
Beech scored, then we scored again, then they scored again and the match just
continued like that. It was a really enjoyable and entertaining game to
watch. The boys played brilliantly.
Well done
to Adam for his 1st hat trick of the season.

On a cold
but sunny Sunday morning we travelled to
this was
going to be a high scoring game for us, we completely dominating the
1st half of the match and was shocked when the half time whistle went
and the score was nil-nil.
The seconded
half was the same, but within 5 minutes we had scored. Vange quickly
equalised but after that we went on to score 4 more goals.
Matthew
Tumbridge 2, Tommy Morris 1.
Having
no subs today we knew this was going to be a hard game for us. After us
hitting the wood work a couple of times Wilburn finally got the ball into
there half of the pitch and managed to score from a corner. Determined
to keep our 100% home record we battled hard and scored 3 quick goals.
UNDER 10’S – MANAGER CAVAN CAREY
Wickford
Town 2 Vs
We played our local rivals Wickford in a hard fought battle to which the boys
gave another 100% display it could have gone either way in this one, but it
wasn't to be hard luck boys, we'll get them next time. Well done all the boys.
The boys had 75% of this game, should have won it but could not find the net,
again 100% effort from the team cannot ask for more, really pleased the way
we played just need to put the ball between the white sticks. Hadleigh manager
also said after the game that Royals should have won and don't we
know it boys.
Southend Manor 1 Vs
Here we go again 80% of the game and still can't
find the net. What a game! Another 100% performance from the team every player
worked their socks off to try and win this one, well done all the team.
Southend Manager, his coach, his referee said
to me Royals were the toughest team they have played this season, also said
that Southend deserved to loose, Royals were far the better team. When
is our luck going to change, well done boys I was very proud of you all and
so pleased the
way you played you deserved more from that game.
Canvey Island Vs Essex Royals Postponed 12th December, 04
May I take this moment to wish the boys a very Merry Christmas and a Happy
New Year, and also the parent’s thank you for all your help.
UNDER 9’S – MANAGER ANDREW STEAD
Beech United 3 – 0
After a three
week break the boys look very rusty, and got punished! A poor performance
After going 1
– 0 down within the first 60 seconds the lads picked themselves up and started
to play some nice football. Within
5 minutes of the re-start, we were 2 – 1 up with both goals being supplied
by Jake Hollowbread and finished by Spencer Finch.
Unfortunately we could not hold for the win.
A controversial
draw to say the least! With some sublime football being played and huge pressure
being piled on the opposing team, Jake Hollowbread slotted away neatly.
Then a very dodgy penalty decision cost us the 3 points.
Allen Vermeulen also made a wonderful save to keep us 1 up just before
the break.
