SENIORS – MANAGER LAWRENCE CREEK
A
poor display in the first half led to us being 4-0 at half time. Outwood were
certainly playing above their league position but we did at last start playing
and applied some pressure to their goal early in the second half to force
an own goal. We did make a few more chances but let another two goals in to
leave us well and truly beaten. It did however turn out that the reserve side
were playing at least three players from their first team...this has been
reported and we await the out come.
Reecon Rovers 2 v 3
A
complete turn around and with no first choice keeper the team played some
great football and showed real fighting spirit. With most of the play coming
from us Rovers attacked for the first time and scored a good goal from 25
yards leaving the keeper with no chance. we came back with a goal by J.Fordham
that came from a corner being knocked on and Jamie shooting passed the keeper.
The second half was much like the first with Royals doing most of the attacking
and another goal followed when J.Forham headed direct from the corner with
the keeper stranded. A breakaway goal from G.Staines after a token attack
settled us down as we took a 1-3. Rovers scored near the end to set up a very
worrying last 5 minutes but we held our nerve and got all three points.
This
game was played on a frozen pitch and was littered with mistakes. A game full
of goals, with the first half being very tight. Royals did all the attacking
but were soon 1-0 down to a good breakaway goal, we did however respond to
this and a goal from G.Staines took the half time score to 1-1.
The second half saw two own goals/mistakes take
A
game where no one was at fault, the whole team played well. The first half
was a stalemate at 0-0 but none the less a very good performance by us as
we again did the majority of the attacking and only just failing to score
on several occasions.
The second half saw us again in the driving seat and G.Staines scoring from
a through ball by M.Ellis in the 77th minute. With the defence at last playing
as they can the danger from
UNDER
17’S – MANAGER JENNI WELLINGTON
Lads played some great football thought
this game and dominated it from the beginning.
Ryan Shoesmith opened the scoring with a
great shot into the back of the net. A
great free kick from Ryan Shoesmith to Dave Cutbush who hit the bar was put
in the net by Sean Halloran. Jack Snelling
made one if his trademark Trojan runs down the pitch, evaded the goal keeper
and slotted the ball coolly into the net.
Another shot from Ryan Shoesmith hit the bar and this time it was Dave
Cutbush’s turn to find the net. A great
team performance.
Wilburn
Wanderers 1 - 1
We knew this was going to be a tough game
as Wilburn are a good side. It was
a great game with end to end action. Fortunately
for us they kept going for the long range shots which were easily saved by
Martin Sale, high or wide. 0 - 0 at
half time. We then got the break we
needed and were put in the lead with a goal from Dave Cutbush.
Then a terrific kick by Wilburn saw the ball from about 25 yards out
hit the net of our goal. Again another great team effort with excellent defending.
Grovewood Sports 1 - 2
It was the second time the boys played
Grovewood after a 2-2 draw against them when we played them last. Before the
match even kicked off we knew it was going to be a hard match because This
game was battle for the top 1st vs.
2nd. We also had a down fall for having a really poor ref
who in the 1st half gave them every foul that happened and nothing
to us. The boys played well in the 1st half, Ryan Shoesmith looked
a danger in centre midfield and Jamie Doyle and Tom Morl led the up front.
Chris Moore Picked up his first booking of the season for his 1st
tackle of the match. Even though he was taken out before he made the tackle.
The defence held up Strong until they got a lucky break through and scored
on a counter attack just before half time. The boys bounced back in the 2nd
half out playing them. Short into the 2nd half the super sub came
on Paul Shields (After Being ill all week he managed to make a speedy recovery
for this match ), Jenni’s words to him was “You Better Score!!” he came on and he made a difference the boys were more aware of the game
and started to played some great football. Soon after he came on he scored,
after a scramble in the box he took control of the ball and scored the equaliser
a screaming shot from outside the box. Then after that he took a bash to the
head almost knocking him out but he got back up and carried on. Short after that Sam Greaves Did what he does
best Scores with his head the 5ft 8” centre back out jumped all of Grovewood’s
defence and scored the winning Header. This was a great game and the boys
really played well two games left lets, keep it up boys.
UNDER 15’S - MANAGEMENT TEAM - NICK DRIVER,
Our boys as you can see from their
results are doing brilliantly and playing well with quality performances from
all players. They have had only one
draw this season and have won all their other matches. They are gelling well
together with a strong defence, midfield and strikers. This is due to the
hard work the boys are putting in and they are working well together with
great passing between themselves. Great to watch on cold, wet Sundays.
We are at the moment top of the league
and are also in the semi-finals of the league cup.
May our reign be long lived

20th
November
A really hard fought game with little between the teams on the day.
1 – 1 at half time, we managed to pinch the winner and shut up shop. Goals
from Jay Smith and Sam Brown.
Man of the match – Calum McIntosh ( midfield ).
4th December
A top of the table clash which turned out to be a really good game,
despite the yobbish behaviour of parents and players alike from Ockendon.
We came off at half-time 0 – 2 down due to a scrappy goal and a poor offside
decision, but fought our way back into the game thanks to a great goal from
Sam Brown early in the second half. Despite a great effort from the boys we
ended up losers, but the performance was excellent against a very good Ockendon
team.
Man of the match – Danny Wilson ( midfield ).
8th January
Having lost to Catford in the league early in the season and also
being knocked out of our tournament by them in September, the boys were really
up for this one. Despite dominating the first half
and taking the lead through Sam Brown, we came off at half-time 1 –
1 . In the second half we really took hold of the game and two goals from
Martin McClenaghan and one from Jay Smith meant that a late consolation goal
from Catford made no difference to the fact that WE ARE IN THE SEMI’s!
Excellent team performance.
Man of the match – Anthony Wright ( midfield ).
22nd
January Lee chapel 0 – 8
The season just keeps getting better and better. A determined 10 man
Lee Chapel kept it to 1-0 first half with the goal scored by Jay Smith. Second
half was a near perfect performance from Royals.
Goalkeeper didn’t’t get a touch of the ball, three more goals for Jay Smith, three
for Anthony Wright, and a rare goal for Charlie Phillippe, our centre back.
We would have won today if Lee Chapel had 14 players, we looked that good
!

Sam McGrath finally made a substitute appearance in our recent cup
game after breaking his arm TWICE !
Welcome back Sam.
Our centre back Charlie Phillippe has just fractured his collar bone
in a playground incident and will be out for 4-5 weeks. This is a major blow
for us as he has been awesome at the back this season, but we will battle
on and try to get him a game in the cup final. All the boys wish him a speedy
recovery.

12’S MANAGERS LISA BROWN AND DEAN MORRIS
A bright start by the boys saw them going close on more than one occasion
but Hutton were more than up to the task defensively and always looked like
they could cause us damage on the counter attack.. Just before half time yet
another royals attack was foiled and this time Hutton punished us with the
counter. A swift move found them in our box and the ball was slotted home
with precision. A good team talk half time refreshed the boys but Hutton were
more than equal to the task they took advantage of some sloppy defending to
go 2-0 up and before long it was 3 .by this time the boys heads had gone down
and it was only a matter of time before the 4th goal was scored.
On the whole it wasn’t a bad performance by Royals but we need to be more
clinical with our finishing and more resolute with our defending and to be
honest on the day the better team won. Never mind boys heads up and remember
they are the only team to take 6 points from us this season.

SUN 27 NOV-
Goals
galore was the theme for today’s match against a side who we only beat 2-1
at their ground. Every opportunity the boys had in front of goal went in the
back of the net. A very good team effort all round, even though
SUN 4 DEC- Corringham Cosmos 1 vs

much to choose between the 2 teams on the day, although the opposition scored,
first we grew stronger as the game progressed and played a lot better in the
second half to score 2 goals. Never looked like losing the match even though
there was only 1 goal in the game. Well played the boys.
SUN 11 DEC-
Another
close encounter with East Tilbury scoring early in the game, yet again the
boys continued to get stronger as the game progressed and eventually scoring
the 2 goals in the second half. The boys seem to relish and play better when
they are a goal down. This can only develop their ability and their commitment
in wanting to win, Well thought boys, keep it up.

SUN 8 JAN-
Thames
Sports started the game with scoring within 5 minutes, this is the fourth
time this season we have come from behind and beaten the opposition. The boys
today proved that they are becoming a very mature side for their age. Well
done the team.
SUN 15 JAN-
The
score line suggests that we were all over them but they were far from that.
We were drawn to the level of the opposition who are bottom of the league
and almost played like them. It took a little while to score our 4 goals in
the first half. The second half produced no goals and was a wake up call for
the team, lets hope they improve for next week.
SUN 22 JAN-
Aveley
Youth were unbeaten in the league so this was going to be a real test for
the boys. I would have been happy and settled for a draw but no, the boys
produced one of their best performances I have seen since taking over the
squad. For a hour the boys played like men, every single player including
the subs were brilliant on the day, and they deserved the applause they got
from the parents and myself. Well played the boys.
UNDER
10’S - MANAGER ANDREW STEAD
The
boys were on a high after their last game and played well against a very good
team. We went in 0-0 at half time, having played well but not really created
many chances. Mid way through the second half Ashingdon scored two good quick
goals, the boys heads dropped for moment until they realized they could still
take something from the game. with 5 minutes to go Charlie McCausland finished
a nice move with a shot to hard for the keeper to stop. It proved little to
late and game finished 1- 2. Unlucky.
The
last time we played this team we suffered our biggest defeat ever (10 - 0
). This time however, the boys decided to turn up!!! For a majority of the
first half it was fairly even, both teams having good
chances to score. In a repeat of last week, Chalvedon scored two goals in
2 minutes making it 0 - 2 at half time. I gave the boys a boost at half time
and for once it seemed to work, Charlie McCausland stuck one in midway through
the half to put the pressure back on. Game On!!! Lots of good attacking moves
but no decent shots on goal was our downfall from then on. With only seconds
left Chalvedon put the game to bed with a nice lob from the sideline which
somehow managed to drift in the top
corner. Considering the previous score, I was very pleased with the all round
performance.
A
game that could have been 6 - 6 or 0 - 0. This game really could have gone
either way both teams playing some excellent attacking football. In goal,
Allen Vermuelen kept us ing the game 5 or 6 times with some good stops. At
the other end Charlie McCausland had a hand full of chances to put us in front
but it wasn't to be. Towards the end of the second half we changed our tactics
to go for the win, that proved fatal as Benfleet took advantage of our "high
up the field" play, we got caught out on a break and this time Allen
in goal could do nothing as 2 strikers steamed towards him. Again, unlucky
to take nothing.
Our
first game back after the Xmas break, and it showed. The boys were out paced,
out played and I'm sorry to say it, but simply out classed. We went in half
time 0 - 0, and hadn't had a shot on target. Jorge
Wilson came closest to scoring with a close range effort going narrowly wide.
The second half was more entertaining, after going 0 - 1 down to a sloppy
goal, Beech struck again with a wonder goal, our keeper having no chance.
After another good team goal to make it 0 - 3, we finally decided to give
it a go, and Frankie Pearson scored a good solo goal after taking on 3 players
and lashing home a great strike. Not good enough!
Our
worst result and worst performance ever! Going into this game Hamlet Court
were bottom of the league only having won 1 game against the team 1 place
above them, maybe the boys were a bit complacent, I don't know. But what ever
they were thinking about it certainly wasn't football. Not really much to
say about this game other than well done to Allen Vermuelen our goalkeeper
for keeping the score as low as it was. Also a mention has to go to Jean-Marc
Ah-Kye who has been proving to be quite the defender, and Danny Mansell who
seems to be getting better every game.

8’S - MANAGER LARRY MCKENCHIE
Cold frosty Sunday morning, nut just like the weather the boys started
brightly.
Royals pushing forwards and with a few half chances. Shore Athletic
were attacking on the break, Royals defending as a unit. With Sonny (back
from his holidays) an as a sub 5 mins from half time, the first half finished
0-0. The second half started much the same, now Jake was on line making attacking
runs down the left only just making the final cross. Then another good run,
the ball came to Michael who passed to Sonny, chested it down, got a shot
away, only a superb save from the goalie, this would have been one to talk
about for a long time. Alfie and Joao were both great goalies with very little
to do once again. The final score 0-0.
Player of the match- Kai McKechnie
27/11/05 Trinity
Leopards 1-0
A late kick off did not do the team any favours, I think they all
had time for a big breakfast! It was freezing cold, and despite playing the
bottom of the league we made a slow start. Alfie in goal today making some
great saves. We had a new sub today Tom Dudley made his debut for the Royals,
in defence. The boys soon picked up and had some fantastic attempts on goal,
unfortunately saved every time. At half time the score was 0-0, after a quick
drink and a snack off we went again. Pushing up hard Jake, Josh and Kai were
defending their hearts out. Suddenly Trinity had the ball and were running
for our goal, with some very good passing it slid past Alfie, 1-0 and that’s
how it stayed.
Player of the Match- Jake Loades
4/12/05 Vasco de
Canvey 1-1
The boys came out with great enthusiasm, the first half seemed to pass quite quickly with play being even on
both sides, just before the half time whistle Vasco made the break and got
the ball into our goal, tucking it in past Alfie. Second half and a substitution
made Joao Pedro now making two fantastic saves. From now on the ball was all
Royals. They played their socks off and I subbed on Alfie as an attacker,
he soon made a long run with a big kick the ball was in the net. 1-1and that’s
how it stayed, a good finish to the first half of the season.
Player of the Match- Alfie Willmott
8/1/06 Great Wakering
Tigers 1-1
First game of the New Year, the opponents beat us 2-0 at home last
time round so all was there to go for, with roughly the same team as before.
Great Wakering kicked off the game, and it soon began to take shape with lots
of passing and some half chances for Royals sub Tom Dudley getting on the
attack. Then the break came, some good contesting of the ball on the edge
of the box, Michael Thomas struck the ball and fired us into the lead. With
right back Josh labouring with a sore foot some changes were made with Tom
coming back and Billy coming on up front. Great Wakering were chasing the
ball and themselves had some chances before the break. The second half kicked
off and Royals with their heads up, but the opposition were here to spoil
that, and they did 10 minutes in to the second half they levelled with a well
taken shot from out of the box. Another change up front, off came Tommy having
had a good game and on came Mitchell, making his debut. Along with Sonny and
Michael both having a good game, and Tom, Jake and Kai now defending with
all their might to get a point out of this game.
Well done boys, especially Mitchell Frost and Tom Dudley. Even the
opposing manger said he noticed a marked improvement in our ability.
Player of the Match- Alfie
22/01/06 Benfleet
Villa Tigers 0-1
Today’s opponents beat us 2-0 last time, so once again we had all
to play for. The game began well with our front Royals keeping the ball in
the opponents half. We came close but not quite close enough, they too had
a few runs in our half but all our players were defending outstandingly. With
a substitution we carried on taking the game to the opposition, Josh, Jake
were playing superbly on the wings, Alfie and Michael combined, for Michael
to put one in the net and push us ahead. The second half started much the
same, Benfleet had come out strong, but Royals just kept on going, and making
several subs throughout kept playing as a good team, The two goalies used
Joao Pedro and Alfie not having to make a save all game. The boys got their
reward for all their hard work….YES a second win. All deserve a mention, so
others who made up the team were Kai, Tom, Tommy and Sonny. Words cannot express
how much the team has improved, and how proud both manger and parents are
of them all.
Player of the Match – Sonny Smith (the goal will come on the end!)
UNDER
7’S MANAGER MARTIN KIDD
Following 2 comprehensive victories the boys knew this match would prove
a major challenge. Billy Thorogood
was brought into the squad for his debut.
The boys looked smart in the pre match warm up wearing their new rain
jackets kindly sponsored by Superior Tiling Ltd. Captain for the match Samuel Cooper won the
toss and Royals played up hill in the first half. From the off we applied pressure on the Catholic
defence but could not manage a shot at goal as they were well structured and
a much bigger side than us. Catholic
then started to dominate and pinned us into our own area. We continued to battle bravely with Ben Kidd
in goal making some good saves. However
it was a question of not if but when Catholic would score and just before
half time they went 1 - 0 up. At half
time Manager Martin Kidd stressed the need to get the tackles in as the boys
appeared to still be playing in the previous days practice match where tackling
was banned due to the frozen ground. The
talk didn’t’t work as we soon went 2 - 0 and then
3 - 0 down as we continued to struggle to pass the ball. With 10 minutes to go the boys got much more
into the game and started to control the game.
Teddy Morris, Lewis Barnby and Joe Clarke all had shots. Charlie Woolmer and Jake Webb were battling
in the middle and Yusuf Eryildiz and Tom Kidd were surging forward from the
back. Eventually Joe Clarke won the
ball on the half way line and drove forward sliding the ball past the approaching
keeper. The large home crowd erupted.
With more luck we may have got another but as referee Dean Morris blew
for full time the best team on the day had won.
The boys were disappointed but took defeat graciously.
Player of the Match was Ben Kidd who made some crucial saves and ensured
Catholic didn’t win by a greater margin. Martin
and Assistant Manager Jason Barnby now know the areas they need to work on
in training.
Manager Martin Kidd selected a very different Royals side for this specially
arranged game which was Benfleet Youth Tigers first, giving mainly the players
who have not featured in every game a run out. Joshua Read was captain and we played up hill
in the first half. From the kick off
In the first of the days matches Manager Martin Kidd fielded his strongest
possible side. As kick off time approached
the referee hadn’t arrived so ‘Barny Barnby’ took hold of the whistle meaning 3 generations of Barnby‘s were involved in the match. Joe Clarke and Joshua Read had early shots at
goal but the Rockets goalie saved both. Midway through the half a throw in
taken by Captain Yusuf Eryildiz down the line was picked up by Lewis Barnby
who passed to Joshua who squared the ball to Joe for him to slot home. At the other end a mix up in our box resulted
in Rockets equalising. This was particular
frustrating for the Royals Management team as Jason Barnby and Martin had
reminded the boys to get the ball away when it is in our own area. At the start of the 2nd half Ben
Kidd made a save and we then had 3 successive corners but could not turn the
pressure into goals. Lewis was clear
through on goal but their goalie made a another superb save. Joe then broke away and slotted the ball into
the far corner for his 2nd. Lewis
had an opportunity but wanted the ball on his right foot when a shot with
his left may have paid better dividends. In another passing move Samuel Cooper won the
ball and passed to Joe onto Josh who fed it through to Jake Webb but he fired
wide. Tom Kidd made 2 big clearances as Rockets strived for an equaliser and
Ben made another save. In the closing
stages Joe had another shot which the keeper made yet another fabulous save.
As the whistle was blown for full time the boys were pleased with their
win. Player of the Match was Joe Clarke.
In the second game of the day Lewis Barnby swapped his striking boots for
the Goal Keeper gloves. Jake Webb and
Samuel Cooper were also playing having played 15 minutes each in the first
game. Referee David Vinas officiating
in his first match got the game under way.
Deaneswood opened the scoring early on.
Jake Webb who was covering every blade of grass on the pitch was injured
in a hard 50/50 tackle. Manager come physio Martin ran on the pitch with his
magic spray and after a few minutes Jake was back on his feet. In the 2nd half Deaneswood playing
down hill scored 3 more goals. In between
Jamie Palmer made a superb tackle in our box with their striker clear through.
Captain Charlie Woolmer was stunned when the ball hit him in the face
with the ball and Martin was on again with his water sprayer.
Billy Thorogood and George Stephenson continued to get stuck in.
Although we lost the boys continue to gain experience and learn about
the game and should help them when they play Concord Rangers Tigers next week.
Player of the Match was Jake Webb.
This was the first of 2 games on the
2 players pulled out in the morning through illness so Manager Martin Kidd
had to use some of the players from the first game. Tom Kidd went into goal and was also captain,
usual goalkeeper Ben Kidd went out on pitch and Cameron Forde after 1 training
session made his debut. Ben went on
an early run and shot just wide. In
a flowing move Joshua Read passed the ball to Ben onto Lewis Barnby who also
shot wide.
In this first match of 2006 Manager Martin Kidd only had 10 available players
and Assistant Manager Jason Barnby was also absent through illness brought
on by only drawing 3 - 3 with myself at Snooker. On a heavy pitch Captain Jamie Palmer lost the
toss and we played up hill in the first half. After 5 minutes Royals were 1 - 0 down. Fighting back Joe Clarke went on a run the length
of the pitch but was tackled as he went to shoot. Ben Kidd made a great save with his legs with
the Manor forward clean through. Yusuf
Eryildiz playing in midfield was trying to create chances and winning the
ball frequently. As the 2nd
half started we got an early corner allowing Billy Thorogood to have a shot
but this was blocked. From a goal kick
Ben reached the half way line allowing Jake Webb to go on a run. George Stephenson made a great tackle and interception
and Tom Kidd was starting to dominate in defence, intercepting, winning tackle
after tackle and calmly running with the ball out of defence.
Twice whilst running he was brought down as that appeared to be the
only way Manor could stop him. If Tom missed Samuel Cooper or Ben was there
to clear up. Having made 4 saves it
was unfortunately a poor kick by Ben that led to Manor’s 2nd goal.
Still trying to play football, Royals tried to get a goal back with
Joshua Read making some nice passes. Young
Referee David Vinas brought the game to a close and the Royals had lost 2
- 0. On reflection for the amount of
possession we deserved a draw, but through out the game their keeper didn’t have a shot to save.
Player of the Match was Tom Kidd. Royals
have now lost 4 games on the trot and certain sections of the crowd were starting
to question whether the Manager could be the first casualty of the season.
Following the dreaded vote of confidence at the recent committee meeting
Manager Martin Kidd and well again Assistant Jason Barnby were hopeful of
stopping the run of 4 consecutive defeats.
Charlie Woolmer was captain in his first game of 2006. Hawkwell started strongly and Ben Kidd made
an early save from a long range shot. The
boys have been encouraged to clear the ball when it is in our area and in
a period of dominance by Hawkwell we defended 6 consecutive corners.
Although It would have been better to clear the ball to the sides it
was pleasing that the boys had listened and got the ball away.
From the 6th corner we broke allowing the also fit again
Lewis Barnby to have a long range shot pulling a fine save from the goalie
who pushed the ball round the post for a corner.
Yusuf Eryildiz made a fine tackle in our box when Hawkwell looked certain
to score. In another counter attack Joe Clarke broke free
and the goalie saved. Great link up
play between Yusuf, Jake Webb and Joshua Read saw Josh put in a great cross
which Lewis met but unfortunately shot wide.
Royals opened the scoring shortly before half time. Unfortunately for Hawkwell not only were they
1 - 0 down but it was also a bizarre own goal.
Their player had gone in for a challenge and connected so well that
the ball went into the far corner of the goal from outside the area. The boys didn’t quite know what to do. Early in
the 2nd half Royals had a mad moment where we decided to play with
the ball in our area but fortunately we were not punished. Samuel Cooper won the ball in our area and calmly
shrugged off some challenges bringing the ball out to the halfway line and
away from danger. Ben made 2 more saves
as Hawkwell pushed for an equaliser. In
the final moments Tom Kidd crossed the ball and both Joshua and Billy Thorogood
had an attempted shot but the ball would not find the back of the net. Young
Referee James Bailey brought his first game to a close and Royals were relieved.
In a tough decision for Player of the Match as everyone played so well
the award went to Yusuf.

CORNER - PETER MEAD AND CAVAN CAREY
Numbers are growing and even though the weather has been cold its
dry, so parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters are able to watch training
without too much discomfort.
We have a workable squad of this seasons under 5's which we will look
to form their into their own group for training and friendly matches next
season. Nicole's dad, Richard Catling will 'manage' this team going forward
and we will both continue to be assisted by Cavan Carey, Conor and Luke Doyle.
We are looking for more under 6's (DOB between 30th August 1999 and
30th August 2000) to join Jordan, Conor, Chris, Matthew and Vincent. If you
know of any one looking to play football that fall within this age group,
please ask them to come along. We would like to get this group up to nine
or ten players so we can organise some friendlies in the first half of this
year and enter them in to a league next season.
January has seen Luis and Nicole celebrate their 5th birthday, while
Jack reached the ripe old age of 4. Congratulations to them all.
