TEAM NEWS

SENIORS – MANAGER LAWRENCE CREEK

Essex Royals 5 - 3 Northwick

Started the match playing some good football and took an early lead with a good goal by S. Hunt. The game was going well when we had our usual spell of ball watching to find ourselves 1-3 down with 10 minutes of the first half remaining. The team was somewhat depleted of usual players and a goal scored by L. Stokes on his debut put us back in the game just on half time.
We were playing some good football now and the team where really passing the ball around with confidence and the chances were being made by passing through the defence as well as over the top, it resulted in another 3 goals scored by S. Hunt taking his total to 4 for the game and a win of 5-3.

UNDER 16’S – MANAGER JENNI WELLINGTON

PEGASUS  3 - 1 ESSEX ROYALS

A freezing cold day, with snow on the ground and snow during the game.  We started the game very poorly and conceded a silly goal due to everyone going up for a corner and leaving one player in defence. We were under pressure although the first half and at half time we were only 2 - 0 down, due to some strong defending by Jake Wellington, Steven Darnell, Jack Snelling and Dean Christmas.  With Martin Sale pulling off some great saves.  We started with second half off brilliantly and a goal by Sean Halloran put us back in the game.  We started playing football and put together some great passing moves.  But it was not to be our day.  Would just like to thank Stuart Hunt for his tips at half time.

BASILDON BOYS 1 - 1 ESSEX ROYALS

Having beaten them 3 -1 earlier in the season we knew they would be well up for getting their own back.  They are a very aggressive side.  We started the game very strongly and took the lead, a great throw by Ryan Shoe-Smith took the ball into the penalty area and Jamie Doyle put the ball in the back of the net.  Both sides having lots of chances to score but due to good defending on both sides it remained 0 - 1 till half time.  They came at us in the second half and managed to get a goal front scramble as an equaliser.  We managed to keep the score line at 1 - 1 by excellent defending by Gregory Coates, Jack Snelling, Jake Wellington and Steven Darnell and great goalkeeping by Martin Sale.

ESSEX ROYALS 8 - 0 CAMPUS WANDERERS

We have already beaten this team and the lads were really looking forward to this game.  We started the game and within a few minutes a goal by Steven Darnell put us in the lead.   By the look on Steve’s face he was just as shocked as we were that he scored (as he is our left back) and his shot was from outside the penalty area and went over the goal keepers head.  A second goal by Ryan Shoe-Smith, again a great strike from outside the penalty area, followed shortly after.  A goal by Adam Dipple saw us 3 - 0 at half time.  Jamie Doyle put us 4 - 0 up and then Adam Dipple put away the next two goals to secure his hatrick!!  But unfortunately he didn’t get to keep our new match ball.  A great strike by Dean Nelson saw the ball fly into the top right hand corner of the goal.  After a couple of great runs down the pitch from our centre back, JACK SNELLING, at long, long last put the ball in the back of the net.  Some great defending and goal keeping by Martin Sale we managed not to concede a goal!!

LTD 10 - 1 ESSEX ROYALS

ERR!! Our goal scored by Paul Sheilds

WILBURN WANDERES 5 - 1 ESSEX ROYALS

Another ERR!! Goal scored by Sean Halloran

ESSEX ROYALS 7 - 1 BLACKSHOT COLTS

Playing in the wilderness we have come to know as Runwell Park!  The lads were up for this game having beaten this team earlier in the season. The lads played some great football and had the grass been at playable length and the goals posts at regulation height I think we would have made double figures in this game.  Goals scored by Paul Shields (2), Adam Dipple (2), Seal Halloran, Jamie Doyle and Marc Maynard.

UNDER 12’S – MANAGER STEVE WILSON

Highbury Colts   1 – 5   Essex Royals           13th February

A really good performance on a cold windy morning in Dagenham.

We always looked in control and won comfortably with goals from Jay Smith (2),

Danny Wilson, Martin McClenaghan, and Charlie Phillippe.

Man of the match  -  Sam McGrath, excellent on the left wing.

Thurrock FC   6 – 0   Essex Royals               27th February

Another good performance where the boys worked really hard with no reward,

Against a team who have won every game so far this season. Hard luck boys!

Man of the match  -  Kurtis Bonner, worked really hard at left back.

Purfleet Lions   10 – 0   Essex Royals            13th March

Another difficult away fixture against a team who have won every game except one so far this season, and we could have done with a bit more luck. It’s the 13th to start with,

then your striker comes off feeling sick after 2 minutes, then you go a goal down after 3 minutes, then you lose your keeper through injury after 5 minutes, and by half-time

you are 0-5 down. The heads dropped, the performance was poor, and I was glad to

hear the final whistle!

Essex Royals   0 – 3   Grays Cosmos              20th March

No excuses today, the performance was terrible against a team we are more than

capable of beating. A very frustrated manager!

Man of the match – Conor Crossley, only the goalkeeper put any effort into this

                                game!

Wilburn Wanderers   1 – 2   Essex Royals      27th March

After a good rucking at training yesterday the boys now know that they must try

to turn this season around with only seven games to go. They started today with a

best ever performance against a side that have always beaten us in previous meetings.

A great first half goal from Martin McClenaghan put us in the driving seat and we

could have scored 3 more before half-time. Even an early second half equaliser did

not distract the boys and James Shrimpton soon restored our lead. A fantastic double

save late in the game made sure we got the points that we thoroughly deserved.

Man of the match  - Ryan Malster, his non stop running and tackling in midfield

inspired the rest of the team.

Linford Wanderers   2 – 2   Essex Royals          3rd April

Another hard working performance against another team who have always beaten

us in previous meetings. We were comfortable at half time thanks to 2 goals from

Jay Smith, but after the effort the boys had put in, and now playing uphill, the

opposition managed to pull this one back. I was very pleased with the performance,

and although its not nice to lose a 2 goal lead, satisfied with the result.

Man of the match – Charlie Phillippe, has been outstanding at centre back in the

                                 last two games.

Training awards.

19th February                       Nicholas Drage

26th February                       Sam Brown

11th March                           Jay Smith

19th March                           Charlie Phillippe

26th March                            Ryan Malster

2nd April                               Reiss Williams

Birthday Boys.

Happy birthday to James Shrimpton on 6th March.

Hurry up back!

Oliver Bright played the whole of the first half against Grays Cosmos before complaining about his wrist hurting. After a visit to the hospital it turns out that

Ollie had broken his wrist in the pre-match warm up, and now has his arm in

plaster. He would like to thank his team mates for the Woolworths gift voucher,

and also Essex Royals FC, who presented him with a similar get well soon gift.

As manager, I would like to wish Ollie a speedy recovery, and hope he is back playing again before the season ends.

20th March Essex Royals 2 - Belhus United 5
Not the best match we have seen the boys play so the less said the better. Essex Royals completed the double for season over Vange with this excellent display of commitment.
2 goals in the fist 10 minutes got us of to a good start but Vange pulled one back before Matthew Tumbridge got his hat trick before half time. In the second half Matthew got another after Vange pulled it back to 3-2. With the score at 4-2 the game got a bit dirty, but we kept our cool and with a well taken goal from Tommy Morris the game was beyond Vange's  reach.

10th April Wilburn Wanderers 3 -
Essex Royals 5
Despite missing an opening goal in the first 5 minutes we were a goal down within 10, then Volkan scored his first goal of the season, but for some unknown reason Wilburn managed to score to sloppy goals to lead 3 - 1. Then Matt Tonbridge was passed the ball and he kicked it straight into the back of the net. 5 minutes later the same thing happened again and  we finished the first half 3 - 3. The second half saw a goal disallowed for off side from Wilburn. Tommy Morris then chipped the ball over there keepers head (one of the best goals that I have every seen scored by an 11 year old) to make the score 4 - 3 to us and to finish the game off Tommy scored again.

3rd April
Essex Royals 5 - Vange United 2
Essex Royals completed the double for season over Vange with this excellent display of commitment. 2 goals in the fist 10 minutes got us of to a good start but Vange pulled
one back before Matthew Tumbridge got his hat trick before half time. In the second half Matthew got another after Vange pulled it back to 3-2. With the score at 4-2 the game got a bit dirty, but we kept our cool and with a well taken goal from Tommy Morris the game was beyond Vange's  reach.

24/04/05 Beech United 6 - Essex Royals 3
Needing a win if we had a chance of promotion, we went into this game thinking we could not be beaten. How wrong we was. Within a minute Beech managed to score. With your heads down we didn't really have a chance to get back into the game. Two goods saves from our goalie Brett a goal line clearance from Joe Brown we managed to pull the game back to 3-3, but it was only a matter of time before Beech scored again. Two or three shots from Matthew Tonbridge went wide, as did a shot from Tommy Morris.
A good midfield performance form Adam Lione, and excellent defending from
man of the match Joe Brown keep the score down.

UNDER 10’S – MANAGER CAVAN CAREY

20th February.........  Eversley Boys 2-  0  Essex Royals
While on holiday the team played very very well considering having only 6 players all credit to those players and a big thank you to the parents who looked after the squad for the day.

13th March.........
Essex Royals 1 - 4 Southend Manor
The team were downed to the bear bones with only 7 players, played as best as they could considering the injury problems within the squad they never played badly just beaten by the beaten side.

20th March.......
Essex Royals 1- 4 Canvey Island
Our bogey side can be completely outplayed us but we did well to keep it as the score line.

27th March......
Essex Royals 1- 6 Eversley Boys
Confidence over the last few games including this one is at an all time low badly beaten on the day but not by a better side need to do some rethinking within the squad to get them back to winning ways.

3rd April......
Essex Royals 1 - 1 Wickford Town
A local derby for which the team were up for it a great game completely dominated the game but considering that both sides are all friends it had to end in a draw but the boys played really well, credit to them.

9th April......
Essex Royals 1 - 2 Elmwood Colts
A very tight game the boys played with much more confidence then of late, they deserved more from this game.

23rd April.....
Essex Royals  1 - 2 Dark Lane Dynamos
Another game full of confidence but lacking that killer touch cannot fault  the boys for there effort there confidence is buzzing.

27th April.....
Hadleigh Town  0 -  3 Essex Royals
The team have certainly turned the corner playing a mid-week game against a team in 3rd place completely outfought and outplayed the opposition excellent performance from the boys.

30th April.....  Ashingdon Youth 0 - 1
Essex Royals
Another great performance from the boys against a team who were runners up scored early, defended very well throughout. This was our last game of the season we seemed to have turned the corner and are ready for next seasons new 11 -a-side.

May I take this opportunity to thank the parents for their loyal and helpful support throughout the season. Also especially the boys for putting up with me as manger and I have enjoyed every moment of this season with them. Look forward to seeing all the boys return ready for a new set of rules and a new game to play. Thank you all for your support.
