UNDER 15’S - MANAGEMENT TEAM - NICK DRIVER,
First game for 3 weeks, and despite not playing ROYALS started the
game very strongly against opponents that were unbeaten, and although well
on top could not score until just before half time with a penalty.
Then three further goals in the next 20 minutes made the game safe
and with the defence only allowing the opposition 3 attempts at goal, it was
another excellent performance played in a rather unpleasant atmosphere, but
the boys kept their heads and were worthy winners.

An absolute thriller of a cup game where we went a goal behind but
came back before half-time thanks to an equaliser from Anthony Wright. The
second half was a hard fought battle with no goals, and so to extra-time.
With 2 minutes of the match remaining, Jay Smith launched a free-kick into
the six yard box. It took two deflections and the ball bounced over the line
off of the keepers water bottle – result !
Well done boys.
Man of the match – Ryan Malster ( midfield ).

Despite totally dominating the first half, we never had that sharpness
in attack or defence, and ended up a goal down through a classic counter attack.
This turned out to be the oppositions only attack as we went out second half
and murdered them. Three goals from Martin McClenaghan, Danny Wilson, and
Jay Smith, in the space of seven minutes, put us in total control of the game
and we really started playing some quality football. Further goals from Sam
Brown and Jay Smith gave us a healthy score line, although it could have been
ten. A superb second half performance from all the boys !

Get well again.
You may have read in the last newsletter, how Sam McGrath broke his
arm after being on the pitch for two minutes against Lee Chapel.
Well, he made his comeback with a substitute appearance against Highbury
Colts, where he set up a goal for Sam Brown and played well. He then returned
to school the following week, played basketball, took a fall, and ……………yes
you guessed it – broke the same bone again!! At this rate Sam, you’re getting
plastered more often than your manager.
GET WELL SOON.

of the cup the boys are playing well and confidence is growing its good to
see goals coming from so many different positions
Man of the match Joe Brown
Another quality performance from the boys against an admittedly under
strength Wilburn the boys are looking sharp but just maybe need to find a
bit more sharpness in midfield
Man of the match Lee Byrne
We knew before the game that this was going to be a tough one both
teams are on top form and it was explained to the boys on Saturday that this
would be our biggest game of the season. It turned out to really tough game
both sides pressed and for a while Lee Chapel threatened to put the game out
reach after a good finish from their centre forward a good old fashioned rollicking
at half time seemed to sort the boys out and they were the better team for
most of the second half getting their just rewards midway through the second
half. Lee Chapel had to hold on in the later stages but held on long enough
to earn a very deserved point a great good old fashioned game of football
a credit to both teams
Man of the Match Brett Gilbourne
Well what can I say about this performance the boys were out the traps
like a proverbial greyhound and were one nil up after about 20 seconds! From then on they never
looked back goals continued to flow in both half’s and it was decided to change
the team drastically to save Phoenix further embarrassment a very very good
polished professional performance from everyone, very well played

A game which could be described as a mismatch. We played the
SOUTHEND MANOR 0 - 1
At
last! The boys first win of the season, which took us out of the bottom 2.
A good, solid team performance from all the boys who were unlucky not to have
scored more goals. Jorge Wilson took advantage of a mistake by the goalkeeper
early on to give us the lead and his first goal for the club. With a full
strength team we pressurized the goalie with a range of efforts from long
range shots from Tom Quinton and Frankie Pearson, to close range efforts from
Charlie McCausland and Jack Oliver, Jack putting the ball over from 5 yards
out! But in the end we came away with a well deserved win.
UNDER 8’S - MANAGER LARRY MCKENCHIE
This was only our third league match, and the kids were determined
to succeed. They came out playing well, however it was not meant to be, the
tackles were going in quite hard, mainly from the opposition, and were not
picked up by the referee. Time was played out too long with the first half
being 30 minutes, the kids were tired. At half time it was just 1-0. Second
half pretty much the same as the first, they scored another two, then amazingly
the Royals captain Kai scored our first league goal. Hooray, at last they
got it in the net. With a new lease of life they fought back, but with some
unfortunate refereeing, we were not allowed to sub any more. With just a few
minutes before the whistle they got another one in…disaster. If it was not
for some fantastic saves by our goalie Joao Pedro, the result could have been
much worse. With the whole game lasting over 1 hour this was a long hard game.
Player of the Match Joao
Pedro Mewo-Peet
A nice sunny start to the day, the kids came out heads up. With our
new forward Tommy, playing confidence was up. This was our best game yet,
the sides were very evenly matched, with some phenomenal defending from Josh,
Jake and Kai, and brilliant saves by Joao Pedro. There were some good runs
from Tommy, Michael and Sonny, and shots narrowly missed the goal. At half-time
0-0.
Second half, we came out attacking, Tommy had some good opportunities
to shoot but they didn’t quite get there. Sub Billy, came on to give Tommy
a rest, and had a good go at getting the ball in to no avail. Josh was getting
tired so with just a few minutes to go sub Alfie took his place. Then disaster
with just four minutes to go, the goals went in one after another, how unlucky,
disheartened the kids looked on in disbelief.
Player Of the Match Michael Thomas
Today was bottom of the league meets top, with Leigh Ramblers having
scored 19 goals in their first four games, and not conceded any. We were very
apprehensive, not wanting to get beaten too hard.
Once again the chances were there, Tommy, Alfie and Michael were upfront,
but just five minutes into the game the ramblers broke through and scored.
Then after a save from Joao Pedro, our defence were at sixes and sevens, he
kicked it out straight to an opposing player and before he had a chance to
get back in the goal the ball was in the net. Half time 0-2. Second half started
pretty much the same, sub Natalie came on and played really well getting in
to gain the ball. However, the inevitable happened, with some sloppy defending,
their player was able to drag the ball back, and get it past. Not more than
5 minutes later it went in again. Final score 0-4, our worst yet. I am sure
we sill get there in the end, they are improving every week.
Player of the match Natalie Leach
We were invited to participate in this under 8’s tourney, having played
a few friendlies with
Player of the tournament (as voted for by the parents) Michael Thomas
Hopes were high again. We were playing with only 7 boys, and no subs.
The boys seemed to be keen and not disheartened from previous results. Having
taken the kick off, the ball soon found its way up to our goal mouth, with
some frantic kicks by both teams Ashingdon Leopards managed to scramble the
ball over the goal line from within a foot giving poor Joao Pedro no chance.
The same thing seemed to happen when the ball was on the back line. Two defenders
were looking on thinking that the ball was out (with no refs whistle), and
the leopards pounced and some how it was 2-0. After that possession was even,
with lots of chances for all. Our forwards Tommy, Michael and Billy were pushing
up with support from Jake and Josh on the left and right back, and Kai central
defender finding it hard to stay further back. The half time whistle blew
and after a drink and snack and a word of encouragement off they went again.
It started as it finished in the opposing half, chances coming but not taken.
Then with some great linking play there was a shot on goal, and YES a great
goal from Michael. COME ON BOYS!! Now they were smiling and really looked
like a team. With some good running from Josh and Jake and supportive play
by Kai, Tommy and Michael were getting and keeping the pressure on. Then the
ball found its way to Billy’s feet, he was one on one with the goalie, with
Mums, dads and Grandad’s white and the manager bursting a blood vessel…..Billy
Scored. YES Billy we shouted. The boys were ecstatic, and their eyes said
it all, they had the drive for more. With the time left they could have won
it, but we were all jubilant with the result. Although Joao Pedro had nothing
to do for the last 20 minutes, we would all take that any day. Well Done Boys.
Player Of The Match
Billy
I shall keep this one short. Remember the date 13.11.05, Under 8’s
team lined up as stand in goalie Alfie Willmott, who touched the ball twice
the whole game, Josh, Kai and Jake then Tommy Michael and Billy. Once again
no subs. Royals scored through Tommy Underwood, and with many many more chances
for all the boys, the breakthrough came with the final whistle Royals 1 Hullbridge
Tigers 0.YES!

Hamlet Court 1 - 5
After a shaky start where Hamlet could have been 2 or 3 goals up,
our captain for the day Joe Clarke broke away and scored to put us 1 - 0 up.
Lewis Barnby then scored a second for us, celebrating by running the length
of the pitch to give his dad a big hug. In between Yusuf Eryildiz was looking
solid and skilful in defence with goal keeper Ben Kidd commanding his box. 2 - 0 up at half time. Early in the 2nd half
Lewis got his 2nd goal lobbing the goalie from 20 yards. Hamlet pulled 1 back
and Ben saved with his back before we got 2 further late goals from Teddy
Morris and a 2nd from Joe Clarke from Tom Kidd’s corner to give us a fine
5 - 1 win. All the boys played a part in this victory Charlie Woolmer grew
in confidence as the game progressed, Jake Webb went on a couple of runs,
Joshua Read who I asked to play in defence was playing right wing within a
minute of the game starting and Samuel Cooper making a crunching tackle on
an opposition player. What a start. Joe was Player of the Match. I estimate
we had about 50 mums/dads/nans/grandads/brothers and sisters watching.
Manager Martin Kidd made 2 changes to the squad bringing in Jamie
Palmer and George Stephenson for their debuts.
Captain Lewis Barnby lost the toss so Royals played the first half

A good turnout for the Skills and Halloween Party,
which allowed the parents to get together in the warm and get to know each
other. Both events went off well and everybody looked to enjoy the day.
The numbers at training is growing, giving us three different age groups to
work with - under 6, 5 and 4. Working with them in their 'team' groups and
together should help their development. Lets hope the weather continues to
be kind to us.
