SENIORS – MANAGER LAWRENCE CREEK
A
bad start to the season, the team played well in the first 20 minutes but
lost all hope when we went 0-1 down. By half time we were 0-2 down but at
least trying to play football. The start of the second half was much as the
first with the team really not playing to potential, we conceded another 3
goals to make the final score 0-5 and were glad to hear the final whistle.
A
depleted squad with only 12 fit players tried to get the seasons first points,
but once again we found ourselves trailing 0-1 after a mix up in the defence.
This score remained till half time. The team were playing better and we pulled
back a goal after a high ball was missed by the opposing defence and Stuart
Hunt coolly stroked the ball into an empty net to make it 1-1. Still playing
well in parts another long ball by the opposition found its way to their only
striker who scored to make it 1-2. There was less than 10 minutes left to
play when the ball was played to the wing and Stuart Hunt found space to cross
the ball to Lawrence Creek who headed past the keeper to level the scores
at 2-2.
A great display by the whole team topped a good result for us....we
took the lead with a goal from Dan Honour who was playing his first game of
the season to make it 0 -1......although constantly on the attack we conceded
a goal from a breakaway to level the score 1-1. A second goal from

TRINITY
TOUNAMENT - SEPTEMBER 15TH
Grovewood 0- 0
A goalless draw to start off, with the lads playing some good football.
Ekco Whitecaps 1- 1
Having taken the lead by a well taken penalty by Sean Halloran, Ekco
equalised from the kick off while we still had our heads in the clouds.
Trinity 0 - 0
Played some good football against probably the best team in the tournament.
A great through ball from Paul Shields to Dave Cutbush gave us the
winning goal.
The lads played great football and had a great belief in themselves
that they could win. Great defending and goal keeping contributed to winning
the tournament.
Squad - Martin Sale, Chris Moore, Sean Halloran, Dean Christmas, Dave
Cutbush, Nick Heslop, Carl Jones, Paul Shields, Sam Greaves, Ryan Shoe-Smith,
Jamie Doyle, Jack Snelling and
We have new signings for this season, Sam
Greaves, Dave Cutbush, Carl Jones, Chris Moore, Nick Heslop and Joe Read which
have improved our squad greatly.
Having beaten this team comfortable twice
last season, we took nothing for granted as teams and players change from
season to season. We started the game
strongly with the lads playing some great football, passing the ball well. Linford gave us a good game we were the better
side on the day.
Two goals by Ryan Shoesmith
If I could get my lads to grow taller by
another couple of feet we would have equalled
Things did not start off well for us, then
the appointed referee didn’t turn up and I had to ask Peter the opposing manager
to referee the game for me. The lads
were not happy but I told them we can either go home or they can play.
We started the game strongly and dominated it throughout.
Aveley were rightly awarded a penalty for a push in the penalty area. Their player stepped up to take it but Martin
Sale could not be beaten and pulled off a great save. The lads again played great football and it
was a great team effort. Another clean sheet at home.
Goals by Ryan Shoesmith 2, Jamie Doyle and
Jack Snelling
ECKO
WHITECAPS 1 - 2
This was a great game to watch, we were
very evenly matched. Ecko took the
lead after about 5 minutes after a mix up with our defence. We equalised minutes after with a great goal
from Jack Snelling, who was outside the box and stuck the ball in the top
right hand corner of the goal. We came out after half time and were under pressure
all through the game, but great defending by
Wilburn have always been a thorn on our
side. We have always lost to them except
once when we knocked them out of the cup.
I said to the lads we are on a roll and lets hope we can keep up the
momentum. They didn’t let me down. We were awarded a penalty for a hand ball inside
the area and Jamie Doyle took it and the keeper saved it, but Jamie had to
retake, as the keeper moved before the ball was struck, and he coolly put the ball away nicely. The lads created good chances and a second goal
by Paul Sheilds made it 2- 0 at half time.
We continued to play good football and a goal by Tom Morl made it 3
- 0. A brilliant free kick from outside the area
by Jamie Doyle secured the game 4 - 0. The
lads played brilliant football, they passed the ball well and superb defending
kept us a clean sheet again at home. I
think we stunned Wilburn by how well we played.
UNDER 15’S - MANAGEMENT TEAM - NICK DRIVER,
HERONGATE ATHLETIC
2 v 2
Goals scored by Sam Ellis and James Driver
Started off our first game slowly, perhaps due to having no pre-season
friendly, and were 2-0 down at half time. The second half performance was
excellent with HERONGATE only having a couple of attacks, but with 10 mins.
to go it was still 2-0, but ROYALS never gave up and scored the equaliser
with 2 mins to go - just enough time for HERONGATE to hit the bar from a corner
and nearly score what would have been a totally underserved winner.
WENTWORTH 1 v 5
Goals scored by Dean Etchelles, James Driver 2 and Sam Ellis 2
Again ROYALS started slowly and but still took the lead, and although
WENTWORTH equalised, ROYALS took the lead just before half-time. The second
half performance was again very good and ROYALS made the most of the break-always
to win quite comfortably, special mention to CHARLIE HALLORAN, who played
in goal as the usual keeper could not play.
CORRINGHAM ATHLETIC
0 v 4
Goals scored by Sam Ellis, Lenny Wallis, James Driver and David Vinas
ROYALS began the game very quickly and were 2 up after 20mins, and
were never really threatened by CORRINGHAM in the first half. But CORRINGHAM
started the second half strongly and ROYALS defence was under pressure until
we scored to go 3-0 up. Thereafter the quality of football, the passing and
the movement were excellent a pleasure to watch.
UNDER 13’S – MANAGER STEVE WILSON
New signings
The Under 13’s would like to welcome our
new goalkeeper Jack Clarke to the club, and wish Conor Crossley all the best
with his new club.
Match reports

September Corringham Cosmos 0 – 4
An early goal from Sam McGrath and one from Jay Smith gave us a 2-0
half-time lead. Martin McClenaghan was then introduced in the second half,
and his extra pace caused the opposition all sorts of problems. Goals from
him and Sam Brown sealed a wonderful performance and great start to the season.
Man of the match – Matt Jackson (defence)
2nd
Jay Smith gave us the lead only for Catford to equalise before half-time.
A second half penalty converted by Sam Brown ( despite a re-take ) put us
back in the lead with only 10 minutes to play. Unfortunately our inability
to shut up shop spoiled another good performance, as Catford took the points
with 2 late goals.
Man of the match – Charlie Phillippe (defence)
9th October
A complete reversal of last weeks game as Lee Chapel took the lead
only for Martin McClenaghan to equalise before half-time. Lee Chapel then
took the lead again, but with only 10 minutes to go it was us who took the
points with 2 great goals from Jay Smith. Another good team performance.
Man of the match – Sam Brown (midfield)

October Ockendon Rhinos 5 – 2
Ockendon have signed some good players this season so when we came
off at half-time 1-0 up, thanks to a superb lob from Jay Smith and a fantastic
team effort, I was more than happy. When Ockendon equalised early in the second
half, we replied straight from the kick-off with a great goal from Sam Brown.
For some reason then on we fell apart defensively and Ockendon took advantage
with 4 goals. A very disappointing result
considering our first half performance.
Man of the match – Danny Wilson (midfield)

Get well soon. Unfortunately,
after being on the pitch for all of two minutes during our recent
home game against Lee Chapel, Sam McGrath collided
with a player, fell back on his hand, and broke a bone in his arm. We
wish you a speedy recovery !

A hard earned first game away win for us with Mathew Tunbridge scoring
2 and Craig Wernell adding to the score despite the result there are obviously
things to work on the boys need to keep their concentration even when the
game seems to be won.
Though Hutton had recently been relegated from the premier league
the had already scored 11 goals in their first two matches, so we knew they
were not going to be easily beaten. They
started the game at a fast and furious pace and scored within the first minute.
Our heads went down for a few minutes and before we knew it we were 3 – 0
down. We then got ourselves together fought back hitting
the cross bar, the side netting, the post, and several attempts going wide
but what ever we did none of them ended up in the back of the net.
Aveley (formally Blackshots) have always been a thorn in our sides
and today was no different. With 2
first half goals from Matt Tumbridge (one from a brilliant cross from Max
Reeves) we could of have gone easily gone into half time leading 4 – 0.
The second half was a totally different story. A quick goal from Aveley saw us not worrying
about defending and us more concerned about scoring another goal. This theory did not work as Aveley soon scored
their second goal. The boys have got
to realise that positional play is equally as important as scoring goals.

11’S – MANAGER CAVAN CAREY
Sept’ 18th
Our first league game at 11-a-side and we kicked off with a bang.
A hat trick for Charly Golding and one for Donavon West killed off any advance
from the opposition. A slow and nervous first half but straight from the 2nd
half we were on top and stayed that way till the final whistle. Well done
the boys.

UNDER 10’S - MANAGER ANDREW STEAD
CHALVEDON BOYS 10 - 0
Our
opening game of the season was, well, a disaster! Our biggest defeat as yet
against a team who are obviously in the wrong league! To be honest, the boys
didn't play that bad, it's just the other team were
to good. We were unlucky not to get a goal or 2, but at the end of the day
we held our heads up and accepted defeat by a superior team. Good performances
from Danny Mansell and Jorge Bromly-Wilson who picked up Man of the Match.
It can only get better!

points denied by a handball in the box that nobody other than the referee
saw! I'm not bitter....honest!!! The
boys put in a fantastic team performance, with some good passing movements
and good team spirit against a good side. Tom Quinton slotted home Frankie
Pearson's cross after a good run from defence to put us 1-0 up before half
time. Tom's first competitive goal kept us in the lead until midway through
the second half when a very dubious penalty was awarded to the opposition,
which was converted to make the game 1-1. Like this it stayed with both teams
fighting for a winner. Jake Hollowbread, playing in defence for only the second
time was solid and took home Man of the Match for his efforts. A good point
away from home.
UNDER 8’S - MANAGER LARRY MCKENCHIE
Royals started well with lots of the ball in the opponents half, with
corners to us, things were looking good. Then Benfleet Villa Tigers broke
into our half, our goalie came out and gathered the ball in his hands. The
Disaster, a mix up with our “goal kick taker”, he took the ball from him and
a hand ball was deemed. A penalty was
the outcome, Oh no the same as last week,
yes 1 - 0 to them just before half time.
On the lads went head up and keeping their positions, Villa Tigers
not too much of a threat. If only my
lads would kick the ball ’hard’ The
Tigers pushed up going past our last line of defence, goalie committed, the
score was doubled and unfortunately that was how it stayed.
As the manager I feel we all we need is a good result, for them to
stop being scared of the opponents goal.
COLT’S CORNER - PETER MEAD AND CAVAN CAREY
The Clubs youth movement is going from strength to strength. With
two new teams forming this year (under 8’s Larry and under 7’s Martin) and
a good number of 5 and 4 year olds training. The future looks bright – Blue
and White!
Everybody is welcome to join in the fun and encouraged to do so.
